That's just not helpful!

Dec 01, 2023

How can I manage my own internal stakeholders in a sale?"

We sometimes forget that sales is a team sport

Interdependence means that the customers success is our success

It can also be a reminder that we need to work well with our colleagues

Typical issues can be

1) Manager that wants to take over

2) Support team that isn't helpful

3) People that are pushing you to push the customer

๐ŸŸ  Orange hat thinking ๐ŸŸ

Lets use applied sales thinking to address these

๐Ÿ”ถ Manager that wants to take over:

Communicate openly and transparently with your manager

Show them that you are capable of handling the sale

Offer to keep them updated on progress

Involve them in key decisions to build trust and collaboration

๐Ÿ”ถ Support team that isn't helpful:

Try to understand the reasons behind their lack of support

Address any underlying issues

Communicate the impact of their support on the success of the sale

Seek their input on how to improve collaboration

๐Ÿ”ถ People that are pushing you to push the customer:

Educate them on the benefits of a more consultative approach

Explain how it can lead to better long-term relationships with customers

Emphasise the importance of understanding the customer's needs

Remind them we should be finding solutions that truly benefit the customer

๐Ÿงก Use your sales skills on the inside as well as outside ๐Ÿงก
