Are you an influencer?

"My sales team don't want to be influencers"
Oh dear... that's a problem
๐ Orange Hat Thinking ๐
Salespeople have to be able to persuade, convince and influence
Indeed everyone does
(Daniel Pink's 'To Sell is Human' explains this brilliantly)
I suspect they are talking about social media activity
If so they needn't be concerned
They don't need to be an influencer in a Kim Kardashian or Kylie Jenner stylee
Doing so would probably backfire
But they are missing a trick if they are not using social media (most likely LinkedIn) effectively
Some ideas to help:
๐ถ Show up
Encourage a habit of turning up to post and comment
Doing this improves visibility and reminds customers why they might want to talk to
Would they hide at the back of the stand at a trade show?
Same principle
๐ถ Share insight
Help them add some thought to what they are posting
What do they think? What are their customers views? Why should they care?
Reposting company stuff won't work
Do they just act like a website in the real world?
Same principle
๐ถ Show some leg
There is room for the personal stuff
It works
People like to know about the person they are dealing with
Do they consider themselves good at building relationships?
Same principle
It's not all about constantly trying to be the star of the show
But anonymity isn't helping either
A small tweak to activity could have quite an impact on productivity... and profitability
